The Nokia N8 is quickly becoming one of the most delayed mobiles in Nokia's history.

The much awaited Nokia N8 high-end handset has been the subject of a number of delays. Vodafone had it announced as “coming soon” back in May, and many thought it was definitely going to be launched last month.

It seems that now we have the final release date, however, courtesy of NokNok, who discovered the magic day when one of their readers spotted a leaked Nokia advert which mentioned the September 23rd for the start of shipping.

Nokia Online will apparently have the N8 ready to roll on that day, so pre-ordering for the smartphone should be available imminently. NokNok also points out that you’ll have to buy it direct if you want the handset before the end of the month, as retailers such as Play.com have it listed as October 8th.

The Nokia N8 sports a 3.5 inch AMOLED touchscreen, 16GB of memory, GPS, bluetooth, 3G, and it runs Symbian^3. The phone’s centrepiece, however, is the 12 megapixel camera which Nokia claims rivals a digital compact.
